PALLET  TO  PLANTER

MTF (More Than Football) Coaching Academy CIC is not just a sports coaching academy. It is a lot more than that. As well as running regular sports sessions we are actively involved in improving the local environment and encouraging communities to get involved in our projects. One of our initiatives is to tackle flytipping in the local area by placing planters in flytipping hotspots. Below is the journey of how we convert pallets into planters, in the hope that whoever reads the story can do the same and create a more pleasant environment to live in.

The Story...

Meet Baz, the champion behind the planters. As well as being a director of MTF, a coach and a father of young children, (not to mention in full-time employment) Baz manages to find time to source the materials, upcycle them and then put them together to create robust planters.

Pallets are sourced from various areas across Birmingham. Usually these items are not wanted by users and are ready to be dumped. We use these 'about to be dumped' materials and turn them into wonderful planters.

Materials are then transported, repainted and assembled together.

Planters are then taken to location, secured together, filled with soil and the team with the local community fill the planters with vibrant flowers which brightens up the whole space.

Result – Beautiful planters and no flytipping!

This is just one way of converting unused materials into beautiful planters. There are many other materials that can be reused to make planters, such old tyres, furniture frames, barrels, buckets, almost anything can be turned into beautiful planters with a bit of imagination.
