EMPOWERING YOUTH PROJECT

 

MTF Coaching Academy CIC piloted its first empowering youth project which is a 6 week course teaching useful skills to youngsters between the age of 11-16 funded by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner’s Fund. The youngsters had the option to choose two out of three skills based activities. These included electrical skills, woodwork or fencing. The youngsters who chose fencing qualified for the bronze level certificate over the 6 week period. The electricians learnt how to wire wall sockets and light fittings safely and for woodwork the youngsters learnt how to use woodwork tools safely such as electric saws, electric sanders, drills and screwdrivers. In addition they learnt about upcycling and were able to bring in an item from home to upcycle at our workshops.

As the feedback was very positive and the youngsters who attended would like to see more of the same type of activities we hope to run these sessions again in the near future. Watch this space!
